Post Offices & Delivery Centres across regional NSW and ACT face various mechanical services issues due to aged systems, many more than 25 years-old which fail to maintain comfort conditions due to equipment age & limited maintenance. Additionally, Australia Post is gradually transitioning towards greater environmental efficiency and having safer, fit-for-purpose mechanical services.

PJS Air have worked on numerous sites across NSW and ACT, from full new build works at Chullora to retrofitting the R22 systems with the current R410 and R32 systems for 25 of their sites throughout NSW. Each site required a unique design solution defined by the amount of equipment needing to be replaced, specific occupancy needs, the intended future longevity, and the compliance and energy efficiency requirements.

Our team has worked to assess and upgrade according to new facility requirements, refurbishing obsolete air- conditioning systems, completing end-of-life upgrades and retrofitting and replacing systems to accommodate the needs of each Post office or delivery centre.

At all times, our engineers have ensured the seamless coordination of our systems with electrical, fire, plumbing, structural and architectural services. With each design verified by a third-party engineer, removing potential risks, gaps in the scope and variations, whilst also ensuring that each system guaranteed functionality, and was fit-for- purpose.

INCLUDED:

Assessing and auditing each of the Australia Post sites, by:
  • defining the problems of each site
  • determining the age, functionality and capacity of each system
  • evaluating each system’s capability and assurance of its fit-for-purpose

REFURBISHING:

  • outside air systems
  • internal ducts, including their cleaning
  • general and toilet exhausts

Transferring:

  • equipment and plant suspended from the roof to accessible areas

RECYCLING:

  • waste and ensuring the safe disposal of hazardous waste

Coordinating:

  • at all times with fire services, electrical, plumbing, structural and architectural engineers and post-office staff during live operations

  • AC units
  • open belt drives with direct drives
  • pneumatic propriety controls with new open-protocol Direct Digital Controls (DDC) and Building Management System (BMS) controls to identify critical and non- critical faults in remote sites
  • existing plant including; pipe work, air handlers, chillers, cooling towers, fan cool units, package units, mechanical services switch
boards (MSSB), chilled and hot water systems, chilled and hot water exhaust systems, smoke control systems and direct expansion air- conditioning (DX) systems
  • ducts – anywhere f rom 1m to 1km of duct work
  • general ventilation
  • R22 systems with current R410A systems and beyond
