PJS AIR in the COMMUNITY
PJS AIR in the COMMUNITY – a social justice perspective
PJS Air has chosen to come alongside the organisation, ICare4U, a not for profit NGO based in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. This social justice enterprise is emerging as an integral and highly respected program with a huge scope for impact and growth. It is a grassroots organisation established and run by PNG Nationals and their families.
ICare4U aims to provide respite living for a 3 month rehabilitation program to support women diagnosed with HIV. The mission is to help in the process of restoring dignity, rebuilding identity and releasing hope back into their lives. The aim is to bridge the gap with support to see a greater understanding of HIV and compliance to treatment. Their program advocates for Papua New Guinean’s to thrive in their communities, no longer seeing HIV as a death sentence and living a full and successful life.
ICare4U provides health education and resources,
counselling and lifeskills training.
In addition, the organisation works closely with Port Moresby General Hospital’s welfare department in advocating for sick and abandoned babies born to women with HIV. Children impacted by HIV, either by being infected or having family members infected are often neglected and even orphaned and/or abandoned.

Allowah Presbyterian Children’s Hospital is based in Sydney’s Dundas Valley and has been caring for children with complex disabilities and medical needs for over 70 years.
The children that come to Allowah are in a small minority. Their needs are complex – as they live with medical conditions such as genetic or chromosomal disorders, birth trauma, cerebral palsy, head injuries, and conditions acquired after birth. Many of the children require 24/7 medical care and support. Allowah provides respite for these children and their families as well as onsite therapy. Some children come to Allowah for the day, the weekend or the week… other children live at Allowah and Allowah is their home. The nursing and support staff are second to none and the love and care for the kids at Allowah is evident everywhere you look. There is no other place like Allowah.
Allowah is a not-for-profit organisation and a registered charity. They rely on the support of individuals, businesses and community groups to help them continue providing support to the children they care for. Visit www.allowah.org.au to find out more.
